Reflections on what Peace really means…

I got this new deck that I chose to keep for my own personal use. It’s called the “How to be a Moonflower Deck” from Katie Daisy. If you are a member on either YouTube or Patreon, I will be doing a flip thru soon of it, so stay tuned. You can join if you are interested by checking out the links in the description box of any of my videos.

As much as I love to share my decks with all of you. This reader also needs lots of self reflection and a ton of work, I promise you!

So the first card I pulled was “Reflect on what makes you feel at peace”. I’ve kept some kind of journal most of my life (not that I was always good at keeping it up for many years) and realized that in many instances especially in the early days, I would just write what I thought people would expect me to. Reflecting writing the last few years has taught me to steer away from the standard answers I would have written in the past, and instead to really sit with the question and ponder what things meant to me. If you are to write to learn truths about yourself then it’s important to write what you truly think and feel, because then and only then do you find the reality that lives inside of you.

Here is what I journaled.

I find myself thinking that is a very good question…

I find myself thinking this is not as easy to define as I would have thought.

My home brings me a lot peace. It is not a showpiece or showcase kinda home or even any part of it perfection with its crooked floors and old carpets, but in this old home I feel it’s strength if that can be a feature in a house and how safe it makes me feel.It is over 150 years after all!

So I realize now that safety brings me peace.

Being in nature looking at leaves fall or the wind in the trees or even the breeze in the grass brings me peace. The color green makes me feel peaceful as well. A setting sun casting long shadows brings me peace. The ocean, and water lapping at the shore brings me intense peace. Floating on my back in water and looking up at the sky brings me peace (one of my past lives was as a whale many years before humans roamed the planet…did I mention that).

And sometimes late at night when my family sleeps safe in their beds and I know everyone is home, I feel a great sense of peace and harmony in my world.

And lastly but not least of all, the day I realized my guides were with me (part of my energy every moment of every day) and that we are part of source gives me a sense of home and belonging and never being alone and that… is the most peaceful feeling of all!

So I guess after some pondering and writing, I realized deep within, my peace stems from my sense of what feels safe, what brings me comfort, nature in her uncomplicated flow and probably her elements as well. Nothing quite like a nice campfire, watching the rain and wind blow and eating from your garden or feeling the earth beneath your feet.

The sense of safety I feel is from what I created inside that I then projected to my environment. And old home that has withstood the tests of time (I believe this is safe and peaceful). How the planet provides beauty and food (I believe I am sustained by her and feel cared for). How my love of my family makes me feel peaceful when they are well and safely sleeping (I definitely believe and feel this from the heart).

How can I make these peaceful things a permanent part of my being whatever happens? I can realize that any lodging I may live in during my lifetime can be transformed into a peaceful home. This is an energy I can bring to any environment. That safety comes from within (this is something I constantly work on). Next, that wherever I go or however the planet changes around me that I can find beauty and peace in the big round ball that I call home. From the desert to the green trees I can see the opportunities and beauty I can receive from the planet. And finally that the love I have for my family will always make me feel at peace no matter where or when because it’s the feeling I have within me for them that matters.

So now, I don’t only have an idea of what brings me peace but also how it can come from within no matter what surrounds me.

You probably noticed I didn’t talk about my connection to my guides as I did above. That connection has always been from within and timeless and forever regardless of my circumstances.

I now invite you to write in the comments. What reflections do you have on what makes you feel at peace? And how you can carry them with you from within instead of creating them outside of yourself. I’d love to hear from you. Let’s chat!

  1. Hi Jane.

What a lovely read. I feel those things too, pretty much. I love that you’ve asked the question.

I have one thing that always seems to bring me a sense of peace.

When I’m out walking in our local park and I hear sounds all around me, it may be children or people with dogs, all mainly having fun, but there’s a lot of people around and it’s nice but not peaceful.

I find that if I walk under a really big, old tree that is like a HUGE umbrella I immediately feel peace. It’s like magic and I love it so much. As soon as I come out it feels ‘busy’ again but I still recall the wonderful sense of peace.

So there’s my contribution to the peace list 🥰🙏🥰

    Teresa 😊
