I’ve been looking at events recently that has made me realize that a “don’t know don’t care attitude” that we have adopted in this world is simply not cutting it.
When that happens, everyone just seems to go about their business even when they see warning signs. Until hours, days, weeks and even years go by and a person or situation gets out of hand where nothing can be done and others suffer the consequences.
If this is teaching us anything, we need to see that ignoring it won’t make it go away. Time for some good old fashion getting into your business type of situations.
If you see something that doesn’t look right. Violence, anger management, strange behavior. Maybe it’s time to report it to authorities, to anyone really. And maybe it’s time that authorities keep a closer eye on such individuals.
We need to start paying attention to the people around us and not putting our heads in the sand because it’s a less icky solution than getting involved. In most cases, you can do something anonymously. And who knows, your actions could save 49 people from getting shot to death from someone who was clearly troubled and showed it repeatedly over years and years of behavior.
It’s time to stop being appalled on social media and start making a difference around us to ensure that the next group of people don’t have to suffer from stuff like this.
How about helping these lost souls by opening our mouths wide to help save our society instead of getting on a soap box after the fact.
If someone is aggressive, report it. If someone is demeaning and spouting prejudice, same thing.
And to the law enforcement agencies, stop saying you can’t do anything until they do something nasty and develop task forces for individuals who show up too many times on your radar for hate, anger, hatred and violence. To keep an eye on them and realize that they may be getting to a breaking point.
Isn’t it said that people need jobs? Well here’s an opportunity to make more jobs. Jobs that might end up saving lives.
We need to start taking care of each other and that sometimes means we can’t just live in the clouds with happy thoughts. We sometimes need to look around us and see if the warning signs are there. To protect others and ourselves from troubled minds and people who think intolerance and hatred are the way of life.
It’s time to WAKE UP! Take your eyes off your phones and look around you. Who would you trust with your life? We should be able to say, most everyone around us since it is said people are generally for the most part good.
Well, do you? My guess would be no.
How about we start working on making the person next to us someone we know and trust.
We have lost the community part of our planet. The village that took care of us, and I fear until we get it back, things will not get much better.
Some of you are doing it on Facebook. Don’t you think it might be time to try to do it with your community? Let’s make our lives safer and better.
That is my rant for today! And whether you agree with it or not, you have to admit, there is a problem out there.
R.I.P. to all the victims in Orlando.
